Remco

I, Remco, was born and raised in the quite city of Maassluis, in the Netherlands. I am the youngest child from a family of two. After completing my studies in vegetable- and cattle farming I have worked and studied to become a horticulturist and florist. After a somewhat turbulent life I got to know the Lord Jesus Christ on March 9th 2006. A true encounter with the Living God that has totally change my live forever. After getting to know God I started working in caring for and working with addicts at an addiction care center in Dordrecht called “the Hope”. I’ve got to know Elizabeth in 2019. And met her through a post about her on her Facebook page that really made an impression on me. After talking to her online for a while I decided to travel to Kenya to meet her and see the work she did for the children in the slums of Korogocho. While I was walking through the small streets and corridors of the slums the Lord spoke to me clearly saying: “Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.(Luk 14:23)”. His voice was with power and love. And He opened the doors to the slums. God gave me someone to be with in His work and you guessed it.., it was Liz.

Elizabeth "Liz"

Hello, my name is Elizabeth, but everyone calls me Liz. Born into a family of ten children I was raised in the slums of Korogocho. After losing four of my siblings I was responsible for taking care of my little sisters. Living next to a large mountain of waste called Dandorra our daily life consisted of searching for something to eat and collecting enough plastics and rubber to earn money to pay for school because my parents could not afford it. As a young child I always knew that this place was not the place where God wanted me to be and although seemingly impossible I knew that He would take me out of this place. At the age of sixteen I was adopted by a loving Kenyan family. It was difficult for me to leave my family but I decided to go and live with them. They gave me a really warm home with a bed, just for me. The father of my new foster home was also a church founder and a pastor. He paid for my studies. I found work as a receptionist and completed pastoral training at Life Spring Chapel. When God called me to go back to the slums of Korogocho I have spent several years struggling to obey Him. I kept thinking to myself; “Going back to that horrible place, is that really what You want me to do, Lord?”. But the Lord gave me peace about it. And after lots of prayer and support my church congregation sent me as a missionary and youth pastor to go and serve in Tumaini Grogon which is a local church in Korogocho.

Mission

There is a lot of insecurity caused by a lack of income for the community. No proper education and skills to pursue meaningfull gain. Because of this many youth think that crime is the only answer to make money. The insecurity, hunger and hopelessness keeps them in this grip. With coaching, love & patience and through fellowship and the Word of God we want them to have a renewing of their mind so they will discover that crime is not the answer and that there is a better way and hope. We want them to get to know Christ and grow in Him. And we want them to be able to work and generate an income for a better future.

Vision

Passover Grace Foundation was set up to help the children and youth in the slums of Korogocho. We want to enable them to work and for them to reach their full potential. We provide them with Biblical teaching to build their character  and teach them essential skills. We strive to equip them physically, morally and spiritually in a safe environment where they can learn these things.
